Celebrate Her- Part Two

 I begin this post by clarifying a certain point: I make no claim of practicing all these "celebrate her" statements in my own life.  Far from it!  I often look down on myself, striving to please the inner critic who always sees something wrong that I must fix so that others might accept me.  Thus, I continue to bring Kobi Yamada's words to you... not as one who practices them perfectly.  Rather, as a woman who gains hope from these phrases.  They become a picture of someone I want to be, a resilience I want to have in the face of a dark world.  I hope that these statements offer a similar encouragement to you!

She walked in when everyone else walked out... Celebrate her friendship

She added so much beauty to being human... Celebrate her presence

She just had this way of brightening the day... Celebrate her radiance

She went out on a limb, had it break off behind her and discovered she could fly... Celebrate her faith

She made the whole world feel like home... Celebrate her warmth

  Off on an adventure... how often have I said those words? Yet this time proves totally different, because for the first time I set off alone. Angola (DTS Part 2)

  After 3 months of lecture phase, our DTS team went on outreach for two months. Our leaders had prayed long and hard about where to go. God opened many doors for Angola and Namibia, confirming His direction for us to serve there. We spent the first month in Angola. Junio, Natalia, Claudiana and Nicole were the staff members who came along with us to guide, organize, support, facilitate and translate (Angola is a Portuguese speaking nation). On the way- the first time flying for some of the students Arriving as the sun sets Welcome to Luanda, Angola! December Moments

December has been jam packed- a lot busier than normal village life! While I cannot share all of it without doing a biblical length blog, I wanted to give some snapshots. First off, sweet Emalai is our family's little Ugandan. She loves to help her friends cook, fetch water, work in the garden or bathe children. Makai got really into his choir singing this month. One night, he made up several songs about baby Jesus in the manger. When Dad told him it was time for bed, Makai sang in response, "Baby Jesus is in the manger and I don't want to go to bed." Makai and I love playing together. One day, he decided we were "hunnies" (a married couple) and proceeded to get us dressed up for a short wedding in front of the Christmas tree. Emalai stole my "hunny" when I was at youth group. They sat together at our kid's table for a date. This lasted every meal for weeks. Residue after spraying an army of ants that invaded our house.
