Traveling in Poem
Although I find nothing inside myself to write, I look to others today and allow their writings to provide narration through the photos of this post. Each of the following excerpts are mantras I walk under or quotes which stirred my heart when I read them. I hope you also are touched by one of these phrases or poems.
The apparition of these faces in the crowd:
Petals on a wet, black bough
-Ezra Pound
Ode to the Twig
By Joshua Shaarda
Green and fresh my fragrance wafted
Under my shade the monarch lofted
Providing air for all to breathe
I was beautiful shades of green
Cooled air, my strength seeps to depart
My leaves, now radiant, display divine art
Flames of red, glow of shining yellow
Gazing at my beauty helps people mellow
Exposed and cold, vulnerable- bare
My leafless twigs now exposed to frigid air
Seeing them fall, trampled under foot
I would cry, but I remain mute
Who am I? What is my purpose?
I just endure, wanting to cry "help us"
Is this all there is? Anxiety flows
I remember days past. Identity- why knows?
Winter's whipped. In spring sun we warm
Now strength swells, now buds form
Sap flowing from roots, deep in soil laid
Now life flows; this is why I was made.
I was with book, as a woman is with child
-"Til We Have Faces" by C.S. Lewis
As long as you are afraid something is evil, you may still hope that the good may come to your rescue.
-"Perelandra" By C.S. Lewis
let it go- the
smashed word broken
open vow or
the oath crack length
wise- let it go it
was sworn to
go
-e. e. cummings
All are architects of Fate,
Working in these walls of Time...
Nothing useless is, or low;
Each thing in its place is best;
And what seems but idle show
Strengthens and supports the rest.
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"I know this is the same sky, but... everything is bigger here.

A word is dead
When it is said,
Some say.
I say it just
Begins to live
That day.

For, brother, men
Can counsel and speak comfort to that grief
Which they themselves not feel; but, tasting it,
Their counsel turns to passion...
Charm ache with air and agony with words.
-"Much Ado About Nothing" By William Shakespeare
Don't you sit down on the steps
'Cause you find it's kinder hard
Don't you fall now-
For I'se still goinn', honey
I'se still climbin'
And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
-"Mother to Son" By Langston Hughes
"Prophet" said I, "thing of evil!- prophet still, if bird of devil!-

The best way to do it, is to do it!
-Amelia Earheart
Then I said, "I covet truth;
Beauty is unripe childhood's cheat;
I leave it behind with the games of youth."...
Again I saw, again I heard,
The rolling river, the morning bird;
Beauty through my sense stole;
I yielded myself to the perfect whole.
-"Each and All" By Ralph Waldo Emerson
Congrats, today is your day.
You're off to great places,
You're off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
You're on your own and you know what you know.
And you are the one who'll decide where to go.
-"Oh the Places You'll Go" By Dr. Seuss
Give sorrow words: the grief that does not speak whispers the or'-fraught heart and bids it break.
-"Macbeth" By William Shakespeare
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it mush follow, as night the day,
Thou canst be false to any man.
-"Hamlet" By William Shakespeare
I've heard it in the chillest land-
And on the strangest Sea-
Yet- never- in Extremity
It asked a crumb- of me.
-"'Hope' Is the Thing with Feathers" by Emily Dickinson
I see the hope at the end of the tunnel for you, even if you don't right now.

This is a situation up with which I will not put!
